Privacy

Draft. This describes how akard actually works, but it has not been reviewed by a lawyer and is not yet a binding agreement. Do not rely on it. It will be replaced before akard is open to the public.

akard holds two different kinds of personal data, and they belong to different people. This page says what each is, who can see it, and how long it stays.

If you sell on akard

We store your email address and, if you give them, your name and mobile number. We store what you enter about your shop: its name, blurb, logo, contact handles, the shows you are trading at, and your PayNow QR image. We store your catalogue, your sales, and what you paid for the cards you bought.

Your card cost prices and where you bought from are kept in a separate table that only owners and managers of your shop can read. Sellers you invite cannot see them at all, and neither can any other shop.

If you buy from a shop on akard

When a seller records a sale they may enter your name, mobile number and email address. That record belongs to that shop. A buyer who shops at two different sellers on akard is two unrelated records, and neither seller can see the other’s. We do not join them, and there is no mechanism that could.

A receipt link is unguessable and is the only way to reach that receipt. Anyone holding the link can open it, so treat it like a receipt on paper.

Children

A child buying a card is recorded with a name and, optionally, an age band — never a birthday and never an exact age. Children are deliberately kept out of the customer list entirely, because a record keyed on nothing but a name cannot be matched or corrected reliably. Under Singapore’s PDPA a child generally cannot give valid consent themselves, so the record is kept as coarse as it can be while still answering the only question worth asking it.

Who we share it with

Our hosting and database provider, and our email provider for confirmations, invitations and password resets. We do not sell personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.

How long

For as long as your shop exists. Nothing on a plan change deletes data: a downgrade hides older sales from your screen and turns some cards into drafts, but the records remain and reappear on upgrade. Deleting your shop deletes its catalogue, sales and customer records.

Getting a copy, or getting it removed
